Alpaca wool “Assomption” sashes

These sashes are finely woven in 2 sizes. 8 feet long with 12’ of fringe on both ends with a total length of 10 feet long and 6 inches wide and 6 feet long with 6” of fringe on both end with a total length of 7 feet long and 4 inches wide.

These sashes were used as trade items in the 1800’s and were popular with Native people and used as belts, sashes and wound as a turban. The sashes were largely distributed by the Hudsons Bay Company and were a popular trade good in most of North America.

Today, these are used by Traditional dancers as bustle belts, sashes and Woodland dancers as sashes and turbans.

These belts are tightly woven, the fringe is well made and because they are made of real wool, will last a long time.
